בכל שנה, מיליוני אנשים נהרגים, נפצעים, נאנסים, חווים דיכוי ומוברחים מבתיהם על ידי פושעי מלחמה ומפרי זכויות אדם, המשתמשים בכלי נשק, שסופקו להם על ידי סוחרי נשק וממשלות חסרי אחריות. שירותי בריאות, חינוך ושירותים אחרים נמנעים מהם.
העולם צריך אמנה חזקה לסחר בנשק המכילה כללים להגנה על זכויות אדם, כך שאם סוג כלשהו של נשק, המיועד ליצוא, עלול לתרום להפרה חמורה של זכויות אדם או לפשעי מלחמה, אז הממשלות הרלוונטיות יהיו חייבות למנוע את העברתו.
אני קורא/ת לכל ממשלה בעולם לנסח אמנה חזקה, שתמנע באופן יעיל את הסחר בנשק, ה"מתדלק" זוועות והפרות מעין אלו.
Millions of people are being killed, injured, raped, repressed and forced to flee their homes every year by perpetrators of serious human rights
abuses and war crimes using a wide range of arms supplied by irresponsible traders and governments. Health, education and other services are
being denied and destroyed .
The world needs a strong Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) with rules to protect human rights, so that if any type of arms to be exported to another country
will probably contribute to serious human rights abuses or war crimes, then governments concerned must stop those supplies .
I call on every government to set up an ATT that effectively prevents arms from fuelling such atrocities and abuses .
