About Amnesty International Israel

The Israeli Section of Amnesty International was established in 1964, making it one of the oldest branches of the movement. In recent years, the Israeli Section has expanded tremendously and our membership continues to increase. Although this Section’s activities are varied, we focus on protecting human rights, taking action in support of victims of human rights violations and promoting the awareness of human rights in Israeli society. Currently, we are conducting two exciting campaigns concentrating on rights of the African refugees’ in Israel, and housing rights for the Palestinian community within Israel. We also campaign for human rights violations abroad in the following countries: The Russian Federation, China, India, U.S., Nigeria, and the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo).

Our members and activists engage in various methods and actions in order to influence and impact decision makers. Our activities include: letter and petition writing, organizing rallies and peaceful demonstrations, lobbying public officials and initiating creative campaigning ideas and activities.
